Futures Jr. Class
Introducing Ms. Elise!
How did I get to Brea Country Hills?
I completed my training to be a Speech and Language Pathologist in London, UK, and worked within the NHS (National Health Service); specializing in the educational needs of students with profound and multiple disabilities.
In 2006 I decided I wanted to travel, and moved to California, where I have worked in Non Public School settings, until this school year.
I continued my career in Special Education, becoming an Educational Specialist in 2014; working with moderate to severe special needs, predominantly with children with Emotional and Developmental Disorders. I have found it hard to leave California, and now limit my traveling to holidays and vacations. ….I mean who can leave this weather!
This summer I was invited to join the SPED team here at BOUSD, and I made the move from Los Angeles to Orange County. I am enjoying the endless views of the hills and and happy to be out of city life and closer to my family who also live here.
What makes Ms. Elise a teacher?
I have a firm belief that every child can achieve, that expectations are important, and parents are essential contributors to their child's education. I hope that I bring a holistic approach to my classroom, blending my therapeutic and academic teaching skills, with a dash of fun!
But what does she get up to when she is not at work?
As I mentioned, I love to travel.; even if I don't leave California, I enjoy everything from the coast, to the redwoods and the mountains. I love taking pictures and getting off the beaten path. In between times I try to go swimming as much as possible, but love seeing live music, or better still curling up with a “cuppa tea” and a good book.
I am so excited to be here in Brea, and especially to be part of the Futures Program.
I look forward to meeting you all in person.
